Student Housing West

Sustainable Student Housing

Located in the heavily wooded, mountain locale of Santa Cruz, the Student Housing West project is a major housing development bringing 3,000 beds on two distinct sites to the campus. The new housing development is part of a system-wide initiative to add 14,000 beds across the UC system. The units will be built for upper division undergraduates, graduate students and students with families. All units will be apartment-style and achieve LEED Gold certification.

The housing communities include social and amenity spaces, parking, and office/administration space. The site development will also feature a student “hub” comprised of dining and market space, as well as fitness and wellness space, an early education center, and a student commons area with multipurpose space and a variety of study and contemplative spaces. A public-private partnership (P3) model is being used to deliver the new affordable housing.
