UC Merced 2020 Project

Largest Social Infrastructure P3 in the Nation

The UC Merced 2020 Project is the  largest social infrastructure P3 development in the United States to date.  The 1.2 million GSF project was designed and built in three phases between 2016 and 2020, utilizing the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain (DBFOM) methodology.  The design and construction budget of $1.3 billion included 13 buildings and supporting infrastructure, with the campus achieving a platinum rating – the highest honor – by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

The 2020 Project used an availability payment structure. Partial payments commenced upon completion of the first phase and full availability payments commenced upon substantial completion of the overall project.
