Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre

Urban renewal for Western Australia

The Perth Convention and Exhibition Center project envisioned a major urban renewal  for a seven-block-long strip, bridging existing rail yards to reconnect the central business district with the Northbridge Entertainment Area. An existing entertainment center was to be directly connected to the event floor of the convention center, creating over 250,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space.

The  entertainment center was also redesigned to provide plenary space, break-out rooms and banquet areas. Integrating a sports arena worked to maximize event days when the convention center was idle. In an effort to secure private capital the development included a 400-room hotel, a performing arts theatre, a 30,000-seat stadium, commercial office space and a new headquarters for a local television network.
